Music is what feelings sound like

Koʻi Ceremony & Canoe Landing

It was an unprecedented event in modern times. It was a ceremony likely not seen since the last koa tree was felled to fashion a wa'a - outrigger canoe. The Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce organized a gathering of the kupuna of Maui's 12 moku - each presenting a pohaku to symbolize unity. Music from Hōkū was used throughout the video. The Ceremony began when the sun and the moon were still in the sky. Enjoy!
